Advanced Open Water

22-10-2006

Today I went diving again. The reason why I went under water (while the water was cold), is because I wanted to get the Advanced Open Water degree. To get that degree, I had to do certain exercises under water. I still had to make a deep dive, this is a dive of 18 meters deep or deeper and a dive while it was dark (at night). I also had to make the theory exam. So today was a busy day. I got up around 7 o'clock, went to the swimming pool around 8.30 am to get the diving equipment. At 9.30 am I left Enschede and went to the "Wijthmener plas" to do my first dive of the day. During this dive we (me and 2 friends/colleagues) had to trace a 'missing' toilet and bring it to our instructor.

For the second dive we had to go to Nijmegen ('groene heuvels'). Here we made 2 dives. The first one was a 'deep dive' and the second dive was a free dive. The deep dive was at 20 meters and I have to say that water of 8 degrees C is pretty cold :P

When we got back in Zwolle (where the training center is located) we had to make our theory exam. But just before we had to order something to eat, so we ordered pizzas. But at least I passed the exam!!!

The last dive was around 9 pm, which was the 'night dive'. This was really great, because I didn't see so much life under water before in that small lake.

But after a day with a total time of 2:40 hours under water I finally got my 'Advanced open water' degree!!!
